Maintenance guide

A few minutes of seasonal care keeps cooling appliances efficient, quiet and healthy. Always unplug the unit before any cleaning or maintenance.

Portable air conditioners

• Filters (every 2–4 weeks in season): slide out the filter, vacuum or rinse with lukewarm water, dry fully, reinstall. Clogged filters are the #1 cause of weak cooling.
• Condensate: empty the tank when alerted; in humid weather check the drain hose for kinks.
• Coils and grilles: dust gently with a soft brush or vacuum attachment.
• End of season: drain fully, run fan-only mode to dry the interior, coil the cord, and store upright in a dry place — ideally in the original box.

Evaporative air coolers

• Water tank (weekly): empty, rinse and refill with clean water; never let water stand for long periods.
• Cooling pads: rinse monthly in season; replace when scaled or odorous.
• End of season: drain, clean the tank and pads, and dry completely before storage to prevent mold.

Fans

• Grilles and blades (monthly): unplug, then dust with a soft cloth or vacuum brush; wipe blades with a slightly damp cloth if accessible per the manual.
• Rechargeable fans: store partially charged, and top up every couple of months during off-season storage.

When to seek service

Unusual noises, burning smells, tripped breakers, or water leaks from a portable AC that persists after drainage checks are signs to stop using the unit and contact support@aervan.com. Do not open sealed refrigerant systems — that is a job for qualified technicians only.
