Installation guides

Most portable air conditioners follow the same basic setup steps. Setup time and tool requirements vary by model and window type — always follow the manual included with your specific product, and see the installation section on each product page for model-specific details and downloadable PDFs.

Portable AC — window installation

1. Position the unit on a flat, stable floor near a window and a grounded outlet, with the clearance stated in the manual.
2. Fit the window panel. Extend the adjustable panel to fill your window opening and secure it. Kits fit within a stated size range — check it against your window before starting.
3. Sliding windows (horizontal): stand the panel vertically in the track. Hung windows (vertical): lay the panel horizontally on the sill and lower the sash onto it.
4. Seal gaps with the included foam strips for best performance.
5. Connect the exhaust hose to the unit and the panel connector. Keep it short and straight; avoid kinks and tight bends.
6. Plug in and test — directly into a grounded wall outlet, never an extension cord.

Casement and non-standard windows

Crank-out casement windows do not accept standard sliding panels; they typically require a plexiglass or fabric adapter solution. Contact support before purchasing if you only have casement windows — we will tell you honestly whether a given kit will work.

Drainage setup

In normal cooling mode most units self-evaporate. For dehumidifier mode or very humid climates, connect the drain hose to the lower drain port and route it to a floor drain or container below the unit's level, or empty the tank when the unit alerts you.

Evaporative coolers and fans

No venting required. For coolers: fill the tank with clean cold water, allow pads to saturate, and provide cross-ventilation (a cracked window) for best results. For fans: assemble the base or stand per the manual and keep grilles clear.
